Hallo folks!

Heidi and Joey here! We are actually alive and doing quite fabulously! We’ve been living in Santa Cruz for the last year or so, and loving every day of our beachy lives. I’m working for a small church and Joey just finished an incredibly encouraging first year of teaching PE and Drama. Our summer kicked off with quite a bang; Joey works with Mount Hermon (the camp we met at) during the summer season, orchestrating their elementary program and managing the college kids who come and work for the summer. I get to love on them and give them a home-away-from-home. It always blows me away how responsive they are to it… we rarely have a night without at least a few of them hanging out, doing laundry, watching a movie, etc. Exhaustingly fabulous. At least they’ve begun doing their own dishes. )

We also have a dear friend on camp staff, Kit, staying with us for the summer. She’s a wonderful friend, a talented musician, and a mildly obsessive house cleaner. It has been the greatest blessing to have her in our everyday world this summer. My house is always filled with music, and I love it.

Speaking of the house: we’ve been finishing up a large and weekend-consuming refreshing of the house we moved into in April (only waited 8 months!). It’s a lovely cabin that was built in 1947 and needed some new paint, floors, and bathroom. We love it and are excited to spend the summer working on the backyard. Anyway, we love and miss you all! Hope your worlds are spinning splendidly and that you’re eating outside and enjoying good wine and all that wonderful stuff that comes with the summer sun.
