a big purchase
well, as of yesterday, wil and i became official first time home owners.
if you hadn’t heard, not even two months ago, wil and i made the decision to buy a house, we looked for about a week, found one we loved, put an offer and waited till escrow closed!
not knowing what to expect, the process was interesting- fun, exciting, nervewracking, stressful, to say the least. it was fast…we were always on the next step (our goal was to be able to move out by august 1st, so that we could offer our condo as a place to rent for nearby design students or whomever.). we did hit a few bumps along the way, especially nearing the end, though. had some issues with the underwriter in the last moments of escrow that wil wonderfully handled, while i bit my nails in the background not knowing what the heck was going on. the back and forth paperwork for the loan was much more difficult than we anticipated, and with a stubborn underwriter, we had to continually push the day of closing back, causing it to fall on a day that i was out of town and wil was expected to meet with the upper management at work for their monthly meetings. jeesh!
but it’s done! we have the keys and the garage door openers (we’re pretty excited about not parking outside anymore) so i guess it’s official! since we leave for hawaii tomorrow, all the moving will happen when we get back. we plan on doing some fun stuff to the place too- tile in some bathrooms, new kitchen cabinets and counters, new furniture. woohoo!
here’s our new home- 300 harwich court, nashville:
come visit us!

The Others
Well we had the other family here this weekend. It was such a fun time. It is so great to grow closer the older we get. The adults all enjoyed…. well other than one older gentleman…… and the cousins warmed up to one another eventually (once they were able to break away from the lap top madness) and had a fun time as well!
We had good laughs, tough talks, played games, good talks, a dinner on the lawn at one long table (it REALLY felt like Tuscany), Bernie Jr played and sang by firelight, the cousins went frog hunting and the dogs (other than the Sofa….) were nuts!
Here are some pics of our ‘Other’ family weekend.
They REALLY did talk to each other and have fun, eventually!

Adam and his ‘hottie’ cousins!

It was so great when Bernie played. Rachel loved going through Laura’s closet getting MANY hand me downs and Gail completely inspired us all to recycle and show respect for the earth! Someday that woman will be running a global non-profit!

Kirsten and Cristina get some moves on in the kitchen!

Jojoe not only got lost on our walk in the woods. I am pretty sure Brad called Jojoe and whistled quite shrilly 583 times. I lost count. Thankfully she found home on her own and proceeded to drive Bill insane the entire rest of the weekend. You just gotta love that dog! Well not Bill.

Fluff & Nut

A successful Frog Hunt!

Yes, where I was most of the weekend… That or behind the camera….. but I loved it, it was so worth all the work and effort!

It really was like a dinner in Tuscany, well almost. We sat around the table and shared dreams and ideals. It was cool!
Arrivederci!
